Homemade Smoothies for Weight Loss

I love to make homemade smoothies for weight loss and just for snacking! Now you can make all different varieties of these wonderful little concoctions of course, but I generally like to use nutrient dense but tasty fruits with a hint of greens or vegetables to make these drinks extra healthy for you. One of my favorite types of greens to add to a smoothie are kale greens or spinach greens, and both of them are very densely packed with vital nutrients and lots of extra fiber, protein and calcium! Just make sure you only use organic greens, and for that matter all your ingredients should be organic so that you aren’t putting any nasty pesticides and toxins into your body, after all, these are meant to be tasty AND healthy :).

Another important factor is to make sure you are always using properly filtered water with your smoothies as most municipal water systems are heavily cloronated and tend to have lots of other nasties in them, not the least of which is fluoride.  Not only will you be improving your health by doing this, but, you’ll also be improving the taste of the smoothie as pure water tends to really bring out the fresh fruit flavors, rather then coloring them with all the junk often found in tap water or contaminated well water. Here is a tasty recipe for you to try out!

Melon Smoothie for shedding those pounds!

  • 1 cup cantaloupe chunks
  • 1 cup  seedless watermelon chunks
  • 1 cup honeydew chunks
  • 1 cup non fat vanilla greek yogurt
  • a few ice cubes
  • 2 cups water
  • 1/2 tsp of organic ground stevia for sweetening
  1. pour in your water into the blender first
  2. then add your yogurt
  3. put in your melon chunks
  4. add in your sweetener
  5. then finally put in your ice cubes
  6. blend until desired consistency
  7. Enjoy!
